My purpose for this page is to create a one stop resource library that includes all of my favorite websites for dive site information, equipment tips, and links to videos and sites that I have enjoyed over the years.
- How to attach a bolt snap is handy information to have for any GUE diver.
- My friend Dan put together a nice how to on how to attach a bolt snap. Check it out here
- Another good how to from Dive Gear Express
- Hose Routing
- Doubles Assembly
- Quest Volume 5 #4 has an article by Dave Sweetin entitled "Doubles assembly"
- Drysuit Related Info
- Diving Unlimited International has quite a few good articles and videos about drysuits.
- Cave Diving Info
- Here are some cave diving sites that I use all the time:
- Cave atlas is a great resource for cave maps and general cave dive site information. Cave Atlas
- This site is another resource that is similar to Cave Atlas, it is older and doesn't seem to have been updated in a while, but there are some maps for a few sites that I haven't found elsewhere: Florida Caves
- Florida River Levels
- Very cool video of Devils Ear:
- Here are some cave diving sites that I use all the time:
- If you are diving in North Florida around the Mill Pond and looking for a place to stay, give Cave Adventurers a call. They have a couple of houses that they rent out. If you have a big crew or are on a tight budget, they probably have a place for you. Cave Adventurers
- I was able to do some cool Great Lakes shipwreck dives on Lake Eerie. I used Osprey Charters, I highly recommend. Be sure to call well in advance to check on trimix availability.
- Bonaire has always been my favorite diving in the Caribbean. If you are traveling to Bonaire, I highly recommend staying at Buddy Dive. Ask for Mr. G, he is a GUE trained Tech diver and a NAUI Tech Instructor. He will get you the gas you need and can also take you to some really cool sites that are hard to find or guide only sites (like the Windjammer).
- If you ever get to travel to Nova Scotia, try to do some diving. It's a very cool and I mean cool, location. I used Torpedo Rays scuba while I was there, they were a very friendly bunch.
- Local Dive Sites
- Spring lake is an awesome dive site in San Marcos, TX. It is owned by Texas State University and managed by The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment. It is a very fragile environment, containing several types of endangered species, therefore it is not open to the public. If you want to dive there you need to take the diver authorization course (DAC). I definitely recommend enrolling in the diver authorization course and heading down to San Marcos to check it out.
- Here is some info on a very cool dive site in Lake Amistad. I'm not sure of the air fill situation at Lake Amistad these days, last time I was there, I had to get fills in a garage. It's a long drive, but it's the best lake diving I have seen in Texas.
